When 240 t/h makes sense
A 240 t/h plant typically produces 1,200–1,600 tons of mix in an 8-hour shift, and much more on double shifts. It fits:
- Expressway and multi-lot highway contracts with several paving fronts
- Large urban resurfacing programs with night work
- Commercial asphalt plants supplying many contractors and municipalities
- Airport projects with large continuous pours
If you have one paving crew, a 160 t/h plant or smaller will usually be better value.

The real bottlenecks at this size
| Bottleneck | Daily scale at about 1,440 t of mix | What to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Trucks | 70+ truckloads of 20 t | Fleet size from round-trip time; dispatch and weighbridge |
| Hot mix storage | Buffer for truck gaps and paver stops | Two or more insulated silos |
| Bitumen | about 65–86 t at 4.5–6% binder | Several tanks, tanker unloading, reliable supplier |
| Aggregate | about 1,360 t | Large stockpile area, possibly two loaders, roofed fines |
| Fuel | about 8–10 t oil (batch plant, 5.5–7 kg/t) | Bulk storage; consider gas or dual fuel |
| Power | 505–700 kW installed | Strong grid connection or large generator set |
Quality at high output
At 240 t/h a plant makes a new batch every minute or so. Good quality control means automatic batch records, stable burner control across load changes, a lab that keeps up with sampling, and stockpiles managed so gradation stays steady.
Price and next steps
Storage silos, extra bitumen tanks, fuel system and site works can add substantially to the plant price; see the batch plant and containerized price pages. Send us your program quantities and we will propose a configuration, layout and logistics plan.
