What 160 t/h means in practice
A 160 t/h plant typically produces 800–1,100 tons of mix in an 8-hour shift. That supports highway contracts with long daily paving runs, airport aprons and runways, and commercial plants supplying several contractors. At this size, power, fuel, bitumen and trucks need as much planning as the plant itself.
Daily requirements at about 960 tons of mix
| Resource | Planning figure | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Aggregate | about 910 t | Mix minus binder and filler |
| Bitumen | about 43–58 t | 4.5–6% binder content |
| Fuel oil (batch plant) | about 5.3–6.7 t | 5.5–7 kg/t from RMX-B/M parameters; more with wet aggregate |
| Trucks (20 t) | 5–12 | Depends on round-trip time |
| Water | Dust suppression, cleaning | — |
Power: grid or generator
| Model | Installed power |
|---|---|
| RMX-D160 drum mix | 300 kW |
| RMX-C160 containerized | 345 kW |
| RMX-M160 mobile | 412 kW |
| RMX-B160 stationary | 470 kW |
On grid power, the connection must carry the installed load and the starting current of the largest motors (exhaust fan, drum drive, mixer). On generator power, size above the installed kW with a starting margin, or use soft starters to reduce peaks. We give a generator recommendation with every quotation.
Site footprint and layout
A 160 t/h site needs more than space for the plant:
- Stockpiles — several days of aggregate in separate bays; roofed sand and fines
- Loader route to the cold feed bins, separate from the truck loop
- Truck loop under the tower or silos, with a weighbridge
- Bitumen area — tanker unloading, tanks, heating, spill containment
- Hot mix storage — one or two silos, so trucks can load without stopping the mixer
- Lab, office, workshop and parts store
- Space to grow — for a RAP line or extra storage
The layout drawing in our quotation shows the plant footprint for the chosen model; we adapt it to your plot.
