RMX-D price by capacity
Drum mix asphalt plants from Roadmixa cost between about $55,000 and $360,000 FOB China port — the lowest entry price of any plant type.

Why a drum plant costs so much less
A drum mix plant leaves out the most expensive parts of a batch plant:
| Unit | Batch plant | Drum mix plant |
|---|---|---|
| Hot elevator | Yes | No |
| Vibrating screen and hot bins | Yes | No |
| Separate aggregate, filler and bitumen scales | Yes | No — belt scale and metered bitumen pump |
| Twin-shaft mixer | Yes | No — mixing happens in the drum |
| Tower structure | Tall tower | Low, compact layout |
Fewer units also mean lower installed power, a smaller generator on off-grid sites, fewer wear parts and a quicker installation.
The price drivers inside the drum range
- Layout — trailer-mounted units add chassis and compact framing
- Dust collector — a baghouse adds cost but captures fines dry and returns them as filler; a wet collector is cheaper but needs water and ponds
- Finished mix storage — a bigger bin or a silo lets trucks load without stopping the drum
- Burner and fuel system — single fuel, dual fuel or heavy-oil heating
- Bitumen tank — size and heating method
When the cheaper plant is the wrong plant
Pay the extra for a batch plant if:
- Your contract specification requires batch weighing or tight tolerances on surface courses
- You will switch between several recipes in a day, or serve different customers
- Your aggregate stockpiles vary and you cannot control them well — a batch plant’s hot screen absorbs part of that variation
Otherwise, for rural roads, base courses and long maintenance programs on one mix, the drum plant’s lower price and running cost are hard to beat.
